Ofukei (御深井) Waterfalls & Parting Clouds Katakuchi, Hiroshige Kato

$105.00

Gazing toward a gloomy sky, only to see a shift in the clouds reveal a clear blue horizon. Standing before the crash of a waterfall, yet finding yourself quietly refreshed by the surrounding mist. Moments like these - the grounding and quietly profound - served as the inspirations for this piece.

We hope that with this piece, you will be reminded of simple moments like these upon every use, bringing that familiar sense of refreshment and serenity to your tea time.

This piece is a joint effort between Hiroshige Kato of the Kitagama Kasen kiln and Kosei Tea Ware. After creating the initial concept, Kato-san expertly brought our design to life, making this wonderfully unique take on the traditional Ofukei style a reality.

Please note: the images shown are for reference only. As each bowl is made entirely by hand, natural variations will occur—subtle differences in form, glaze, and expression that give each piece its own unique character. Rest assured: every bowl is equally beautiful, and one you will be proud to call your own

Kato-san is a 14th generation potter who specializes in Akazu style wares, a style that traces its roots back to the very formation of the widely known Seto and Mino ware. Deeply influenced by his grandfather's work, Kato-san blends his lineage’s rich legacy with contemporary ideas to create new and unique works that appeal to the modern audience.
